A spring time hike to in the provencal alpes in 22-May-2003: In the village Les Dourbes (D19 von Digne-les-Bains) turn left at the chapel and follow the road to the forest house (maison forestière, 1103m); parking. Follow signs to Pas de Faille (1670m). On arrival follow the ridge to the north to La Barre du Vabre (1680m) at the foot of the Couard mountain. Climb the steep hill in direction north-east and after the second pine tree patch re-join the ridge and follow the ridge in direction north (marked with yellow points). to the Couard summit (1988m). Back on the same trail to the Pas de Faille; there follow the ridge to the South to the St. Martin hole, don't forget to take a picture, and the further south to the Pas de Tortonne (1658m). There the descent goes down to the west. A minute later one hits the yellow-marked below-ridge crossing path, where you turn left (south). Attention: there is no sign to Dourbes! There is a sign marked MF (meaning "maison forestière [des Dourbes]"e;). Follow MF. Total time 8 hours. Total difference in elevation about 900m
